First, choose your church! Cooroora Parish has four churches. Cooroy - Holy Nativity, cnr Tewantin Rd & Miva St; Pomona - Good Shepherd, cnr Memorial Ave & Rectory St; Kin Kin - St Luke’s, Main St; and Roberts House, Orchard Ave, Boreen Point. Today, Anglican weddings can also be held in outdoor locations giving you a wide choice in the style and formality of your wedding while still having the blessing of a Christian ceremony.
What you need: Birth Certificates for both parties. If either party is divorced, the original of the “Decree Absolute” needs to be sighted and noted.
Marriage Fees: The fee for marriages conducted within church is $500.00. This includes fees for the organist and the cost of flowers. White pew bows are also available for your use and this is included in the cost. Fees for weddings conducted outside the church are determined by requirements on the day and include marriage preparation. Cheques should be made payable to The Anglican Parish of Cooroora. Would you please have a cheque or cash available at the time of the wedding rehearsal (a few days before).
Preparation: Marriage preparation includes 3 or 4 sessions with the Revd Julie Woolner. This includes time focusing on your marriage as well as planning for the wedding day. Alternatively, the Anglican Church of Brisbane provides group preparation lessons run by people qualified in specific areas (this program may incur additional fees). You need to see me on several occasions to get to know you and to organise and co-ordinate all the relevant details (service, music etc).
Flowers: Specific flowers and colours can be organised. Our fees provide 2 large vases, additional flowers can be arranged.
Music: We are happy to arrange an organist or you can play music from a CD or MP3.
